Biographical/historical: In making this work, Mishka Henner gathered data available in the public domain about military outposts. He searched for information on official U.S. military and veterans’ websites, in news articles, and in leaked documents and reports. The resulting series presents 51 overt and covert outposts. Many of the found images are clear and detailed, whereas others are technically noisy and seem to emphasize the stealthiness of the outpost’s daily activities. Henner mimics the government’s practice of gathering and compiling data, yet shares the information instead of keeping it secret.
