Francis Stanfell was a British naval officer. Collection consists of letter book Stanfell kept on board the ships Bacchante, Cossack, Druid, and Phaeton containing correspondence with the British Admiralty Office and others, written from various places in Europe, Africa and North America. Includes information on the attack on the Maine coast during the War of 1812; the treaty with the King of Madagascar, 1817; and order book, 1812-1819.
