Content: Consists of engraved t.p. and publisher's dedication and 192 engravings in color comprising 96 oval portraits alternated with 96 half-page historical scenes. Both portraits and scenes have engraved text beneath them. The engravings were designed by Sergent (about 138), Desfontaines (about 43), Naigeon, P. Barbier, Bénard, F. Gérard and Duplessis-Berteaux and engraved by Sergent himself (about 47), his wife "Mme de Cernel" (30), J. Morret (about 24), Moret, who may be identical with J. Morret, (about 50), Ridé, L. Roger and Le Coeur.
