Content: Printed on border: "Front view. Many ladies having long front hair, which they are accustomed to wear in bandeaux, are naturally reluctant to have it shortened for the purpose of curling… The style of head-dress represented in our engraving will be found to remove this objection : the kind of rouleau curl there adopted, admits of the length of hair being retained without inconvenience." "Side view. In this view of the head-dress, it will be observed that the disposal of the plaits presents precisely the effect of the antique diadem. The lace employed may be either black or white…" Written on border: "May 1849" Includes additional text. Foxing on image.
