Handwritten: "Hercules attacks the three-bodied monster Geryon, who carries a shield with the device of a boar and a cuttlefish. One of his bodies is wounded. Between them lies the dog Orthros. He has two heads and a snake-shaped tail. Behind Geryon a woman laments. Behind Hercules Minerva hastens to help him. Iolaus stands before the dying herdsman Eurytion. Below, four youths drive away the herd of Geryon. Center, young horseman wearing a gay cloak and a petasos."

Description
Geryon was a giant who owned a herd of fine red cattle, watched over by the herdsman Eurytion and the two-headed dog Orthrus. Hercules, as one of the Twelve Labors forced on him by king Eurystheus, killed all three of them and brought the cattle back to the king, who sacrificed them to Hera. Iolaus was the half-brother of Hercules and served as his companion and charioteer. A petasos was a broad-brimmed hat worn by travellers. Note stylized palm and olive trees. Kylix painted by Euphronios.
