Content: Picture caption: "Ein neuer Strich ist hinzugekommen. Ein deutscher Jagdflieger führt am Seitenruder seiner Maschine die Abzeichen von 32 erfolgreichen Luftkämpfen. Jeder Strich ein Hieb gegen England!"
Content: These simple "hash marks" on the airplane's tail (here a Messerschmitt Me-109) are in contrast to the enemy flags painted under the cockpit used by Allied pilots to keep track of their "kills".
