Abraham Walkowitz (1878-1965) was an American early Modern artist who was well known for his drawings of Modern dancer Isadora Duncan. The collection (1929-1944) holds an exhibition announcement, a script, a list of dances and songs, and photographs of Walkowitz's drawings of Duncan.

Biographical/historical: Abraham Walkowitz (1878-1965) was an American early Modern artist who was well known for his drawings of Modern dancer Isadora Duncan.
Content: The collection (1929-1944) holds an announcement for Ballet Drawings, an exhibition by Abraham Walkowitz at the Schacht Gallery in New York City. Other items in the collection include a handwritten list of dances and music; photographs of Walkowitz's drawings and paintings of Duncan; and a script for Isadora: A Four Act Drama Based on the Life of Isadora Duncan written by Lucille Markoff. Each photograph documents several of Walkowitz's works lined up next to each other. The Dance Division at the New York Public Library holds approximately 300 of Walkowitz's works. Researchers interested in Walkowitz's drawings of Isadora Duncan should consult the New York Public Library Catalog.
