Description: The City of San Francisco Oracle was an underground newspaper based in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. 12 issues were published between September 1966 and February 1968. Reflecting and shaping the countercultural community, the Oracle combined poetry, spirituality, and multicultural interests and was noted for its experimental design. Contributors included significant local artists and beat writers such as Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and William S. Burroughs.
