Notes
Content: Printed on mount: "Suffolk County Whaling Museum of Sag Harbor: Sag Harbor; This whaleboat is believed to come from the whaler "Concordia" a bark of 265 tons. It is first sailed out of the port of Sag Harbor on May 20th, 1837, for the South Atlantic, under the command of Woodward Thomas Brown, owner. She was engaged in the whaling industry at Sag Harbor until 1876, when she was sold to New London, Connecticut. On one occassion, when on a voyage of nearly two years, the Concordia returned home in consequence of mutiny. Small boats were put out from the ship to pursue the whale when the call came, "Thar she blows." This particular boat was afterwards used for a number of years in off shore whaling at Amagansett. (from information supplied by the museum)"
