Biographical/historical: "Constantine Samuel Rafinesque (1784-1842) was born near Constantinople, the son of a French merchant. In 1802 he settled in Lexington, Ky., where he became Professor of Botany at the University. He traveled and lectured and became famous by his writings and translations of botanical and zoological works. He died in Philadelphia"--imprinted on sheet.
