Content: Pencil sketch by Pierre Jean David of the statue made by him, which is now in Washington; also a profile view of the head.
Statement of responsibility: Signed "P.J. David D'angers Sculp 1833."
Content: The statue stands in the White House grounds. It was presented to the nation in 1833, by Uriah Phillips Levy, of the United States Navy, the purchaser or Monticello. It stood first in the Rotunda of the Capitol, and was thence removed to the grounds of the President's House.
