Description
The content of the recording leads to the presumption that Margaret Carson (addressed on the tape as Maggie), the holder of this collection, composed a list of questions that Sandra Robbins (a violist), the wife of Elmar Oliveira, a noted violinist, presents him with acting as an interviewer. The recording begins in their car on the Saw Mill Parkway as they drive to their house in Croton-on-Hudson and ends there. The questions and answers cover such issues as Oliveira's childhood, education, habits, tastes, relationships, his cats, the perils and joys of concert tours, the psychological aspect of performing for the public, the destructive effect of high expectations and self-criticism, his profound interest in and love of arts, etc.
