Content: Contents : A calligraphic specimen (muraqqaʻ) by ʻAbd al-Rashīd of an Arabic poem attributed to ʻAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (Laka al-ḥamd yā Dhā al-jūd). On the first (unnumbered) sheet/panel the work is described as "Muraqqaʻ-i khaṭṭ-i Rashīd," probably also referring to the caligrapher ʻAbd al-Rashīd.
Content: Physical description : 12 sheets/panels (10 numbered) of thick cream paper, glued with thin stripes of paper. Some panels are painted in blue and greyish blue. 6 lines per page, Nastaʻlīq script in black ink. Each line of the poem has its own cartouche. Odd lines are aligned with the right margin, even lines area aligned with the left one. The remaining space is filled with a square decorative panel illuminated with vegetal elements in gold, orange, light blue, pale pink and black. Each two lines form a couplet (three couplets per page). Ruling in lapis blue, gold, orange and black. Safavid headpiece on panel 1: panel with three gold cartouches (the larger one at the center, flanked by two smaller ones) on a lapis background; corner elements in brown and pale pink; orange decoration above and underneath the central cartouche; illuminated with floral and vegetal elementes in orange, light blue, pale pink and red-orange; ruling of the panel in gold, blue, orange, gold and pale green. Above the panel a headpiece in gold and lapis with vegetal elements in orange, white, and light green, headpiece decorated with leaves in pale green. Colophon in a dedicated panel on panel 10, gold and lapis backgrounds with vegetal elements in orange, yellow and light blue. Margins of the panels are illuminated with vegetal elements and animals in gold. Erased ownership note and seals on the front panel. Ownership seal on the last (unnembered) panel.
