DescriptionRobert Weber Federico, executive producer emeritus at Repertorio Español, discusses his career with Ramón Espejo and Rafael Sánchez, the latter of whom is now the company's artistic director. Federico, who grew up in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, has loved theater since childhood. Just out of college in the early 1970s, he began working at Repertorio Español on a casual basis. Within a short time, he was designing sets and doing administrative work. This led to a career of over fifty years with the company, eventually as its leader. He talks of the history of the company and several of its memorable productions, including a Spanish language staging of Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf? featuring Silvia Brito. He discusses how theater has changed in the course of his career, and reminisces about his mentors and associates, including Gilberto Zaldívar, René Buch, and Miriam Colon.Rafael Sánchez, who interviews Federico, also answers questions about his own experiences guiding Repertorio Español, which he joined as artistic director in 2021.
